PhD Scholarships

NCGRT PhD Program 

The National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT) is interested in hearing from prospective students seeking a PhD in groundwater. NCGRT has 15 university partners covering most State and Territory capital cities.

PhDs are available across a range of topics including geochemistry, groundwater modelling, uncertainty analysis, groundwater in mining, surface water/groundwater interactions, groundwater dependent ecosystems, groundwater contamination and remediation, water law and policy.

Candidates with skills in mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, earth sciences, ecology, law and/or social sciences are encouraged to contact us.

Successful applicants will apply for an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (Domestic) at one of NCGRT’s partner universities.

Benefits

The AGRTPS pays a stipend at the standard rate set by the Australian Government of $28,854 pa. tax free (2022 full time rate).

The AGRTPS also includes a Research Training Program place (RTP), which provides an off set for tuition fees for up to 4 years.

Eligibility

  • Australian citizens; or permanent residents of Australia; or New Zealand citizens;
  • Completed at least four years of tertiary education studies at a high level of achievement and have an appropriate Honours 1 (or equivalent) undergraduate degree;
  • Enrolling as full-time students;
  • Commencing or are continuing a Master’s degree by research or Doctorate by research;
