NCGRT Scientists elected Fellows of the prestigious American Geophysical Union (AGU)
Professor Craig Simmons (Flinders University) and Professor Andy Baker (University of New South Wales) have been elected to the Fellowship of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) as members of the 2021 Class of AGU Fellows.
Simmons and Baker are among the 59 new Fellows recognized for their exceptional contributions to Earth and space sciences through a breakthrough, discovery or innovation in their field.
Since 1962, AGU has elected fewer than 0.1% of members worldwide to its fellowship. To date, fewer than 50 Australian scientists, across all areas of Earth and space sciences, have received this prestigious international honour.
Craig Simmons is recognised for his exceptional contributions to groundwater science and modelling. Andy Baker is recognised for his groundbreaking work on groundwater, caves and karst, organic carbon characterisation & isotope geochemistry.
The NCGRT congratulates Craig and Andy on this outstanding achievement and international honour.
Their fellowships will be formally conferred in an Honours Ceremony scheduled to take place at #AGU21 Fall Meeting in New Orleans.
